San Miguel de Allende is already a magical place to photograph and there are endless pictures daily all over the city. Everywhere you look it is a feast for the eyes. I never imagined I would live in a place so beautiful.
One of the things I have gotten into a habit of though is setting an alarm on my phone for 45 minutes to an hour before the sunset which is something known as the Golden hour. The Golden hour is when the lighting is heavy towards the orange/golden end of the spectrum and photos look extra magical especially with the city lights gradually coming on but still being able to see everything.
The Golden Hour is the opposite of the Blue Hour that occurs up to an hour before the dawn when everything is leaning towards the blue end of the spectrum. I have provided some photos below of midday vs the Golden Hour.
I recommend you set a Golden Hour alarm on your phone as I do and take a walk towards the end of the day while the cool of the evening makes it alot more pleasant. Not only will you get a little exercise and enjoy the surroundings more but you’ll never miss the amazing lighting and sunsets.
